She took to twitter a few months back to confess that she’d like Drake to quote, un quote. “Murder my pu$$y” But of recent, Drake took time to respond to the numerous tweets about him in the new issue of XXL magazine. “I don’t even know who is doing that or what that’s about,” he says. “If that is her, I guess it’s a little weird and disturbing.” But Bynes has flip -flopped on her feelings about the rapper, sometimes calling him hot, while other times branding him, like many of her other targets, ugly. “It’s obviously a behavioural pattern that is way bigger than me,” Drake continues. “Whoever is behind it, whether it’s her or somebody else, they know people are paying attention so they keep it going.”

#SleeceNaija : Landlord sets six youths ablaze for smoking hemp

a middle-aged man, Mukaila Adebesin, for allegedly setting ablaze six people in Ita Balogun Compund, Ago-Oko, Abeokuta. The victims are Adesanya, 20, Sulaiman Adebesin, 20, Saburi Seteolu 18, Raheem Bello 19, Azeez Alabi 20, and Kola Sodeinde 19.  It was gathered that the victims were allegedly set ablaze by Adebesin at 7pm because they were gambling and smoking Indian hemp on his premises. A witness, who pleaded anonymity, said Adebesin, a commercial bus driver, had  just returned from an outing when he saw the six youths in his compound. He said, "Their activities made the driver engage them in an argument. As the talks became heated, Adebesin reached for a can of petrol which he emptied on them. "The victims attempted to flee when it dawned on them that the liquid poured on them was petrol. "But  they caught fire from a stick of the Indian hemp being smoked by one of them. They suffered high degree burns due to the incident." Adebesin, who is currently being detained at Oke-Itoku Police Station, was said to have turned himself in to the police immediately after the incident . Our correspondent gathered that other youths in the area, on learning of the development,  stormed Adebesin's compound, and vandalised his apartment and injured his wife who is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Abeokuta. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said that investigations had already commenced into the matter. Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said, "Adebesin might be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations. He said four of the youths had been admitted at the General Hospital, Ijaiye, while two others were taken to a private clinic for treatment. "Information available to us is that the suspect had an argument with the youths before he poured PMS on them. For now, we cannot ascertain other circumstances that led to the incident but we have the suspect in our custody." The police spokesman added that the command's commissioner, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, also warned youths in the area not to engage in any reprisals, saying the police would not condone any act that could disrupt peace inthe state.

If he is dating a skinny girl, the thick ones look more attractive, if he is into the thick one’s, the skinny chicks start looking like Angelina Jolie…and yeah! we all like Angelina Jolie. Former Chief Security Officer, CSO, to late Gen Sanni Abacha, Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha, Saturday afternoon paid a thank you visit to retired Controller of Prison, in charge of Kirikiri prison, Mr. Iorbee Ihiagh in Makurdi. Reports say that Mr. Ihiagh was in charge of the Kirikiri prisons when Al-mustapha was an inmate at the detention facility. The retired Prison officer was said to have refused to release the former CSO to the military authorities on allegations of planning  a coup d’état from the prison. The former CSO who was accompanied on the trip by a large entourage including Mohammed Abacha, son of former Head of State, Gen. Sanni Abacha, was led by his host, to Jato Akaa, some five hours drive from Makurdi, the home town of former Minister for Steel, Wantaregh Paul Unongo, where they paid homage to the elder statesman.

#SleeceNaija : Adult movies: Next to hoteliers,school children are our top buyers –Vendors

Very few people will readily talk about Adult movies but it does not change the fact that a lot of people watch the film that now go by different names. Investigation shows that these movies, which many frown at, have a sizable followership and consequently, a large market in Lagos that includes underage persons. Over the years, Adult movies have been generally called by various names including Adult movies, Stag movies and Blue films. But the common street terms in Lagos, as put by Adult movie vendors include Triple X, Mójo, BF, and Adults’. Although, these movies ought not to be sold in the country, this is, however, not the case in Lagos, where porn movies are publicly displayed, including for the curious eyes of underage persons.  Basically, porn CDs with lewd cover pictures can be found at major junctions from 6pm, openly displayed together with regular movies, to draw the attention of passersby. Some of the vendors have adopted a trick of covering hard porn CDs with soft ones that show exposed bodies, but without the sexual organs in view. However, there are some others that display covers with hard core sexually explicit pictures in their stalls. One of such CD vendors identified himself as Mr. Kingley. He displays his ware at Ojota in the evening. He toldSaturday PUNCH that his customers vary from “young and old, male and female.” Kingsley also said that his patrons include persons of secondary school age. He said, “Women also buy Adult (movies) here but their age starts from around 30 years upward. But for men, they can be as young as 15 years and could still be in secondary school. “A lot of these young school children come for Adult movies and I sell to them. Of course, it’s market (business) now; we have to sell. “When those young ones (underage) come, they quickly pick the Adult CD they want up, put it inside a nylon (polythene) bag and say ‘take the money’. They do this because they don’t want any delay.” Kingsley, however, added that no one had challenged him yet for Adult  movies to underage or displaying them in the evening. “If you don’t display them, you may not sell well, because sometimes, it’s when people see the cover that they know what you have and get interested,” he said. “Lagos is a place where people mind their business, so nobody challenges me at all and it’s not my business where they (underage persons) watch it. But they may decide to hide the movies in their rooms and watch them when their parents are not at home.” Meanwhile, a cross section of Adult movie vendors in Lagos identified their movies as popular with the public. But in spite of Adult movies’ blockbusting status, their vendors said many of their patrons are shy of openly demanding for them. Hence, the vendors have mastered their customers’ countenances and are able to read them. A Adult movie vendor at Ikeja, who identified himself as Wale, described the trend as natural for adolescents. Wale said that young underage boys probably use the movies as a self-help tutorial for séx education as they reach pubérty and become aware of their séxual urgés. “I don’t know much about girls but I think that the boys buy the Adult movies to teach themselves about séx, and we heard that some of them also use the movies to masturbaté,” he said. But in Wale’s opinion, the appeal of Adult movies to underage persons has been an age long trend, unfortunately passed down from generation to generation. He said, “Recently, a young boy came to ask for Adult; I asked for his age and he said (that he was) 16 years. It reminded me of when I was in school too. Today, I think it’s wrong for underage persons to watch Adult movies but many of us knew about it when we were still in secondary school. I remember that we used to generally call it ‘Blue film then.” However, Peter Udoh, who sells Adult movies along Awolowo Way, also at Ikeja, described the area as a prime position for the Adult movie business in Lagos. Udoh said he buys CDs using a “70-30 ratio”, with Adult CDs taking the larger share relative to regular CDs. He said, “Adult movies sell more here than ordinary (regular) movies. If I have only ordinary movies, I don’t think that I will sell much. No one will sell well by relying on the ordinary movies alone. “So, when I buy movies, I buy 70 per cent of porn movies and 30 per cent of others like action and season movies (series). I buy more Adult movies because I sell at least 20 Adult movies a day and sometimes it could be more.” Udoh said his biggest customers are hoteliers, who could buy as many as 20 Adult CDs at a go. He said that hoteliers usually require Adult movies for lodgers who request for them, thereby sustaining their loyalty to the hotels. Next to hoteliers, Udoh identified school pupils as top on his list of “regular” customers. He said, “Some who run hotels come to buy as many as 20 Adult CDs at once, so they can give to customers who ask for them at night. We also have people who buy because they just enjoy watching it; they don’t use it to have séx. Apart from hoteliers, we make a lot of money from pupils who are always looking for these films. We also have another set of people who buy the movies to learn new styles when they want to have séx.” Udoh also claimed that some of his customers are even frank enough to share their plans with him during their visits. He said, “When a woman comes to buy a Adult CD, they are usually up to something. It’s most likely that they want to have séx. A woman who should be around 28 years was here recently to buy a Adult CD. As she was picking the one she wanted, she said ‘this man will kill me tonight’ but I told her that they would enjoy it. “Some of the female customers buy it to give to husbands who are not keen about séx; they will play it for them to get in the mood.” Udoh said such women never go straight to the point, “They will first ask for romancé (movies) and after giving them romancé, they will now come out to ask if I have a ‘raw’ one.” To help out his shy customers, Udoh said he pays attention to their faces to determine the ones that want Adult movies, but shy to openly ask for them. He said, “Most people won’t come and ask for Adult movies during the day, they will come in the night and when they come, I know what they want. Some will be shy but once I look at their faces, I know what to give them.” In the period that our correspondent was with Udoh, six persons came separately for Adult movies. One of them, a commercial tricycle rider popularly called Keke Marwa rider, who refused to give his name, picked four Adult CDs at once. Udoh said the Keke Marwa rider was one of his customers, but that night, the man, who looked to be in his early 30s, said he was buying them for his friend. He said, “It’s true that I buy here often, but these ones are for a friend. I had told him about some interesting ones I watched and he asked me to get them for him too. But when I buy, it’s just to enjoy at home alone or learn new things from them.” He, however, denied that he was addicted to Adult, saying he could stop seeing them anytime he wanted to. Another customer, who identified himself as Mike, said he liked Adult movies because of the “action inside”. He added, “I also like to watch it when I want to have a female visitor but after, I destroy them (CDs) because I can’t watch them more than once and don’t like to have them lying around the house too. It’s only when I feel like watching it that I buy and I destroy it afterwards.” Interestingly, it seems that some conditions also predispose some people to buy Adult movies. According to Mr. Sunday Johnson, an official of the Agege zone of Audio/Video CD Sellers Association of Nigeria, the sale of Adult movies is always better during weekends or when it rains.  But Johnson claimed that he never sells Adult to underage persons, due  to his position at AVCDSAN, describing it as unethical. He said, “Particularly when rain falls at night, we sell more because some people will feel cold. Sale is also good during weekends, especially when it rains rainfall too. Some people will come and say ‘Give me better BF or Adults’, but I don’t sell to underage persons.” Johnson’s style is to place CDs of romance or soft Adult movies on hard Adult movies on his shelves. He said he does that to prevent underage passersby from having to see the lewd images on the CD covers. He said, “The pictures on the romance CDs are still better than the ones on the ‘raw’ ones. These ones only show uncladness but not the main things (organs). I don’t sell porn movies to children if their appearance suggests that they are still young, although, I know that many others sell to them because of the money. “When the secondary school students go to buy porn CDs, the sellers sell to them at a higher price because they don’t like to wait too long haggling over price since somebody they know may see them if they stay too long. So those children end up paying over N200 for a N150 CD because they are in a hurry.” Investigation shows that the Adult movies with the most sexually explicit cover pictures attract the most buyers. Johnson said, “The ones that show more action are the ones people go for.” Basically, Adult movie vendors have been preying on people’s addiction to Adult to sustain their businesses. But interestingly, investigation shows that many of them also struggle to fight off a similar addiction to Adult. He said, “What happens is that when some people watch the movies once or twice, they become addicted to Adult and even stop liking movies where people don’t show their uncladness. Therefore, it becomes a habit for them and they come back for more and more of latest Adult movies.” But according to Johnson, like his customers, he became addicted to Adult a few years into the business, adding that it affected his other interests and almost destroyed his marriage. Johnson said, “I got addicted that time because some customers would return the Adult CDs they bought and say the CD was bad. Since I don’t have a CD player at the shop, I would take them home to check them and I gradually became so addicted that I couldn’t watch anything else again. “When my wife and children are asleep, I would be watching Adult movies. A few times, my wife caught me watching them but somehow, didn’t talk. After a while, I made up my mind to stop and I stopped watching them, although, it was tough. But today, they don’t move me again; maybe because I see the covers everyday, so I don’t feel there is anything special inside.” Johnson also explained that most porn movie sellers end up becoming addicted to Adults because some customers ask for their opinion on the movies they sell. He said, “Customers urge us to watch the movies so that we can tell them if they are interesting or not. So, some CD sellers end up liking the movies too much too.” The Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, National Film and Video Censors Board, Mr. Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, described the sale of porn movies as “totally illegal”. He said, “In fact, it’s a criminal offence in our law to sell it, whether in the morning or at night. Even people who watch porn movies are watching them illegally, but we can’t do anything about it when people watch in their  rooms. “It is completely illegal, according to Section 202 of the Penal code in the North and Section 232 of the Criminal code in the South, which prohibit the sale, rental and display of Adults. The trend among some fathers who choose to have s*x with their daughters has reached an alarming state, with a new dimension introduced by a father who allegedly had carnal knowledge of his eight and half months pregnant daughter in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, when she went to visit him after about 14 years of living apart. photo The girl, Ibukun, (not real name) who was impregnated by her lover in another state where she lived with her paternal grandmother was said to have been brought to Ibadan when she started having complications with her pregnancy. Her mother, who got separated from her father last December, took her in to keep an eye on her, but with her meagre income of N250 per day which she earns as a cook assistant in a local cafetaria, the woman seemed incapable of taking care of Ibukun and her two younger brothers who were staying with her. When Ibukun saw that life in Ibadan did not suit her, she decided to go back to Osogbo. However, she had the urge to see her father whom she had not seen for 14years since her grandmother took her into custody. But her decision spelt peril for her as she allegedly ended up being r*ped by her father. According to Ibukun, “I was defecating one day when I started bleeding. I was taken to hospital where they saw my womb protruding from my cervix. The ultrasound scan I did showed that I had placenta previa. At another hospital, the womb was pushed in and I was warned not to have s*x until delivery. “I was brought to Ibadan but I was not comfortable. I told my mother that I wanted to go back to Osogbo but I thought of going to see my father whom I saw last when I was a child. I asked my younger to take me there, with the thought that I would at least get transport money from him. “I went there on Saturday July 20 with the intention of sleeping over. My brother went to sleep and I also went to lie down. My father came and ordered me to remove my clothes, raining curses on me. He started robbing my breasts with his hands. He later took black soap, rubbed it on his hands and started using the hands to rub my breasts again. “By then, I could see that he was aroused as his manhood had risen beneath the loin cloth he tied around his waist. It was after that that he had s*x with me. I was weeping and my brother saw him and exclaimed ‘Ah! My brother also started crying. It was my brother who told my mother but I went to my aunt at Bodija area and narrated my experience to her.” The father, Mr Kehinde Olasode however denied sleeping with his daughter, swearing with the Quran. He said that he only used some leaves recommended to him to bath his daughter because of the bleeding she was experiencing in pregnancy. Olasode said: “She had been living with my mother in Osogbo since she was about five years of age. I have not seen her all these years. About two months ago, I was called and informed that she was pregnant and bleeding. I called her mother to inform her and she brought her to Ibadan to stay with her mother at Apete. On Saturday, July 20, her brothers brought her to me, and I sat her down to castigate her for getting pregnant instead of being serious with education or a vocation. “Meanwhile, someone told me to get Jatropha (lapalapa) leaves with black soap with which she should bath, saying that the bleeding she was experiencing would stop. I used the soap to rub her head and her breasts and gave her water to rinse her body. I don’t know how they came about the story that I slept with her.” The mother, Adijat, told Crime Reports that she left her husband in December to look for means of survival in Lagos because he was not responsible over the three children she bore him. “The burden was too much for me. He has another woman who bore him two children. “My daughter got pregnant in Osogbo and she later started bleeding. We brought her to Ibadan and she stabilised. When I noticed that she was almost due, I agreed with her to go back to Osogbo because there is no single baby dress in Ibadan and I am financially incapacitated to buy them. “She went to her father on July 20 and came back to tell me that her father rubbed and squeezed her breasts, vowing to expose him to the whole world. She also said that he slept with her but I don’t know how true that is.” Crime Reports gathered that the case was reported at Mapo police station and the Divisional Police Officer, SP Ganiyu Ali ordered the arrest of the suspect. Confirming the story, the Police Public Relations officer in Oyo State, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor, said that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for further investigations. Crime Reports also gathered that nurses at the State Hospital, Yemetu could not conduct the test necessary to check for presence of spermatozoa in Ibukun’s vulva because of her bleeding state, so as not to trigger labour.

The presidential committee said it will release data showing it remained in touch with Boko Haram. The presidential committee pushing for a negotiated deal with the violent sect, Boko Haram, has downplayed Monday’s bombing that killed scores in Kano, promising new “data and fact” that will show gains it achieved with the extremists, as the panel’s work faces increasing doubt. The Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Turaki, who heads the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges, said the blast in Sabon Gari area of Kano State, which killed at least 20 people, was carried out by “those who do not wish the country well”, and did nothing to detract from the gains made by the committee. Mr. Turaki said his panel had spent time making contacts, building confidence and earning the trust of some of the key figures of the group, and getting to engage in critical discussions which will not only lead to full ceasefire but also to disarmament. “Of course the issue of disarmament has to be handled properly by the appropriate organs because as a committee, we are not professionals. So what we can do is to broker the arrangement to the level where appropriate authorities, whether they are military, police or combination of both will now have to take the front seat and be in charge of the issue of surrender of arms and disarmament but as far as we are concerned we are making a lot of progress in this direction,” the minister said. The renewed spate of killings, allegedly by Boko Haram, has cast a pall on the self-claimed successes of the committee in achieving a peaceful settlement that will bring to end years of deadly violence by Boko Haram. Mr. Turaki told journalists at the presidential villa that there was no doubt the president was satisfied with the progress made by the committee. He denied the meeting was at the instance of the Monday attack. “I didn’t ask to see Mr. President. The President has not refused to see me. I came here to collect a copy of letter of extension of the mandate of the committee and it is here in my hand; this is what I have come to collect. I didn’t go to see the President; I have no cause to see the President. The President has not refused to see me,” he said. Mr. Turaki said soon, data and facts, showing how much the committee’s efforts had paid off, will be made available to Nigerians. “Very soon, we will be able to address Nigerians and then facts and data that will justify what we have been doing will be released,” he said. On the denial of ceasefire agreement by the sect, Mr. Turaki said the committee had gone beyond that as the issue had been sorted out. “The people we have been speaking with who are genuine members of the Boko Haram sect have themselves taken up the issue with some of their colleagues and I don’t want to reduce it to a diatribe between the committee with any other person or any group of persons. “At this level, we have informed Nigerians of what we are doing, what we said is true and accurate and very soon Nigerians will also be availed of sufficient facts that will confirm the information that we have given which is very correct,” he said. President Jonathan allowed the committee an extra two months extension to complete its assignment of getting the sect to accept dialogue and end the violence. The committee, which was inaugurated on April 24, was initially expected to submit its report on the July 24. But, the committee is yet to meet with the head of the Islamist sect, Abubakar Shekau, who is wanted by the Nigeria and U.S. governments.

ASUU has been on strike for over four weeks. The Federal Government has appealed to university students and their parents to be patient as negotiations are ongoing with striking university lecturers. Briefing journalists after the weekly meeting of the Executive Council of the Federation, FEC, the Information Minister, Labaran Maku, said government was worried because the disruption of the university calendar comes at a social cost to government. “We are appealing to our people, particularly parents and children of this nation, to bear with us, to show more understanding and we pray that this type of strike will not reoccur; because the public school system suffers a lot of damage with the perennial strikes,” Mr. Maku said. University lecturers, ASUU, have been on strike for over four weeks demanding that the government fully implement a 2009 agreement it had with the union. The government insists it wants a renegotiation of the some parts of the agreement claiming the agreement was not signed by the Goodluck Jonathan administration. Mr. Maku said the government was very worried about the strike. He assured that the strike will soon be called off and that an “understanding will be reached soon enough to enable our students return back to school.” “Government is very worried and concerned every time the school calendar is disrupted. It has its cost to the nation; particularly the idle time our children spend at home can lead to a lot of social difficulties. “We don’t want school calendars to be disrupted and a lot of series discussions have been going on and we believe we should record some progress soon enough for these schools to open,” he said. Mr. Maku noted that universities have been relatively stable since the advent of the Jonathan administration, as in the last two years “there has not been a lot of strikes until this unfortunate one and I believe we will overcome it and in the end both parties will appreciate the need to keep the school calendar stable for the progress of our country.” He said the “government is working hard to ensure we reach an agreement to resolve this problem so that our schools can reopen”.

Policemen at Bode Thomas division of Lagos State command, Tuesday, arrested a woman who allegedly set her 11-year-old house maid ablaze in Surulere area of Lagos, for stealing a piece of meat from her pot of soup. The maid identified as Ita Bassey-Eno who reportedly escaped death by the whiskers, is currently at the Burns and Trauma Centre of the Gbadaga General Hospital, with doctors battling to save her life. Although her mistress, a staff nurse at an undisclosed hospital in Surulere, Mrs Nkese Iroakazi, reportedly denied the allegation at the police station, the ailing girl was said to have managed to state that she allegedly poured kerosene on her before striking a stick of matches to set her on fire. The incident, as gathered, occurred last Saturday at 7, Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, after she rushed out of  the apartment with fire on her, apparently in an attempt to plunge into a gutter. Unfortunately,  she reportedly fell before she could get to  the gutter. One of the residents was said to have succeeded in putting out the fire with the aid of a fire extinguisher, before she was rushed to the hospital.Eyewitness account, a resident who simply identified herself as Morakinyo told Vanguard:  “I was just alighting from the bus when I saw people gathered in front of the building. When I got there, I saw Ita whom we all call Eno on the floor. Then, the flame had been put out.“Two men who attempted to carry her into a car could not because the skin at that time had peeled off. They had to get a slab, placed her on it and rushed her to the hospital. From what I gathered, the girl has spent barely one month in Lagos before the incident.“She was brought from her village in Akwa Ibom State last month alongside another girl called Happiness. Since then, we have not seen either of them going to school.“We heard that while Happiness was in the sitting room, there was a cry from Ita in the kitchen and before she (Happiness) knew what was happening,  Ita rushed out of the kitchen and straight to the road shouting for help. “How could someone who has children of her own treat another’s  like this? It was even the residents that alerted policemen who came to pick Mrs Iroakazi.” 95%  burns  When Vanguard visited the hospital, Tuesday, a doctor who spoke on condition of anonymity  expressed fear about the  victim’s condition, revealing that she suffered  95 per cent  burns. “It will take a miracle for her to survive. In any case, we are trying all we can to ensure she gets back on her feet. That will entail some surgeries because her private part was badly damaged.“ Currently, she wears pampers and that area needs immediate surgery after the injuries would have healed.Ita was sighted with bandage all over her body, except her face and feet. When a nurse approached her to administer the day’s treatment, she groaned in pains.As at 3 p.m yesterday, police sources told Vanguard that the suspect would be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba  for further investigation.

No fewer than 20 people are believed to have been killed in Sabon Gari, Kano  as suspected terrorists detonated about four bombs in the neighbourhood. One of the explosions believed to have been carried out by Islamic sect, Boko Haram, occurred at a drinking joint in Sabon Gari, where most of the non-indigenes reside. The blasts occurred on Igbo Road, Enugu Road and New Road, opposite Ado Bayero Square. The first blast was said to have occurred at about 9.12pm near International Hotel, while the second blast followed three minutes later. Security forces immediately condoned off the affected areas. AFP reported that “at least four explosions” had occurred in the Sabon Gari neighbourhood with an estimated 20 people killed.

The Acting Chief Judge of Abia state, Justice Shadrack O.E. Nwanosike has been sacked over the falsification of his date of birth. On Monday, the Nigeria’s  National Judicial Council made the announcement after investigations revealed that Nwanosike faked his date of birth which invariably affected his retirement age. He was subsequently ordered to embark on a compulsory retirement. In a detailed press release signed by the Acting Director of Information, Soji Oye,  the action was part of the recommendation of the council at its meeting presided by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar, held  on July 17 and 18. The report from the Committee on Performance Evaluation of Judicial Officers of the Superior Courts of Record in the Federation made up of a five-man Committee was reviewed and Judicial Officers with “Very Low Performance or Non-Performance”, were to appear before the council to show cause why they should not be removed from office, reports say. Also the council was considering the appointment of some Judicial Officers in the Federal & States Judiciaries to the Executive, respectively. The suspects were arrested in various parts of Lagos. The Nigerian Army in a raid carried out between July 12 and 23 said it arrested 42 suspected members of the Boko Haram sect in various hideouts in Lagos and Ogun States. The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division, Major General Obi Umahi, paraded the suspects before journalists in Lagos on Monday. Mr. Umahi said their arrest was based on intelligence report from army operation commanders. He said the suspects admitted being members of the sect, while some confessed to have taken part in deadly Boko Haram operations in some parts of the country. The GOC said some of them were among those responsible for the killing of soldiers and civilians in Maiduguri, Borno State. According to him, the suspects were arrested at Ibafo Trailer Park, Ileke New Trailer Garage, Ogun, Aviation Quarters, Mafoluku-Oshodi, Mile 12 Motor Park, Ketu, Orile Trailer Park, Lekki New Extension, and Bar Beach, Lagos. “We are still trying to track their weapons,” he said The GOC said the suspects migrated to the south western part of the country following the recent clamp down on their activities in the north by the Nigerian Armed Forces. “Army officers from 81 Division carried out coordinated raids in some major criminal hideouts in Lagos and Ogun States which are under our area of responsibility. “This is in response to intelligence reports on the influx of Boko Haram terrorist elements into Lagos and Ogun states. “The command organised and conducted raids, in junction with intelligence operatives, in various parts of these states. One of the suspects, who identified himself as Hassan Ibrahim, told journalists he and two others were indeed responsible for the killing of one soldier in Maiduguri. The suspect further gave the names of the two other accomplices as Ibrahim Ismail and “Alhaji Black”, adding that, some of them were now operating commercial motorcycle in Lagos. “It was Alhaji Black who fired the shot that killed the soldier and one Boka in Maiduguri,” the suspect said. The Boko Haram sect has limited its terrorist activities to the northern part of Nigeria where it is demanding an Islamisation of northern states. The Federal Government in May declared a State of Emergency in three north eastern states of Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe to check the activities of the sect.

Two persons have been arrested by the Abia State police command in connection with the death of a 16-year old girl, simply identified as Esther. Esther’s badly decomposed body was found in an uncompleted building at the Cattle Market in Lokpanta in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State. The victim’s full identity was not known, except that she hailed from Abakiliki, Ebonyi State. Esther, until her death, was alleged to be a girl of free virtue, a trade she reportedly plied at the Lokpanta Cattle Market. The suspects, Uchenna Okorie and Levi Nwankwo are presently with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) where they are helping the police in their investigation. It was, however, not possible at the moment, according to the police to know if any part of her body was tampered with because of the badly decomposed nature of the remains. According to the police, on the night of Thursday July 11, 2013, one of the suspects, Uchenna Okorie, said to be the boy friend of Esther, engaged the service of the other suspect, Levi Nwankwo, an Okada operator, to pick Esther and drop in his house. Levi Nwankwo, the police said, claimed that he picked the girl as instructed by Uchenna Okorie and that when he got to Okorie’s home, he was not around, adding that he dropped Esther there and asked her to wait for her boy friend. According to him, she sat under a mango tree in the compound before he left. However, some days later Esther’s badly decomposed was found in an uncompleted building. According to the police, it was the stench oozing out from the decomposed body at the uncompleted building that attracted the people around the area. The incident, the police said was reported by one Good Samaritan, Friday Eke. Before then, Esther’s “business colleagues” at the Cattle Market had raised alarm that they had not seen her for a couple of days. However, the clue that led to the arrest of the two suspects, the police said, was given by one Mercy Sunday, said to be a food vendor at the Gariki, who gave the information that she saw when late Esther was carried in an okada by Levi to Uchenna’s house. When contacted, the Abia State Police commissioner, Mr. Usman Tilli Abubakar confirmed the incident and said that the police would get to the root of the matter. Abubakar said whether Esther was a prostitute or not, she deserved not to be killed, hence the police’s on-going investigation to unravel the cause of her death.

Train driver Francisco Jose Garzon Amo The driver of a train that crashed near the Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela on Wednesday killing 78 people is due to appear before a judge. Francisco Jose Garzon Amo has been detained on suspicion of reckless homicide and the judge will decide whether to press formal charges. Garzon is suspected of driving too fast on a bend. Reports say the train was travelling at more than double the speed limit at the time of the crash, reports the BBC. Garzon, 52, was pictured being escorted away from the wreckage by police, blood pouring from a head injury. He left hospital on Saturday and was immediately taken to the central police station in Santiago. He has so far refused to make a statement or answer questions. Sunday's court hearing will be closed but the judge will decide whether to remand the driver as an official suspect, release him on bail, or free him without charge. If the judge finds enough evidence for a criminal trial, Garzon will be charged and a date set. At least 130 people were taken to hospital after the accident and 30 remained in a critical condition on Saturday. All eight carriages of the train - packed with more than 200 passengers - careered off the tracks into a concrete wall as they sped around the curve on the express route between Madrid and the port city of Ferrol on the Galician coast. Leaking diesel burst into flames in some of the carriages. The train's data recording "black box" is with the judge in charge of the investigation. Officials have so far not said how fast the train was going when it derailed. Gonzalo Ferre, president of Spanish rail network administrator Adif, said the driver should have started slowing the train 4km (2.5 miles) before the spot where the accident happened. The president of Spanish train operator Renfe, Julio Gomez Pomar, has said that the train had no technical problems. He said the driver had 30 years' experience with the company and had been operating trains on the line for more than a year. People from several nationalities were among the injured, including five US citizens and one Briton. One American was among the dead. Some victims have had to be identified using DNA matches due to the extent of their injuries. PM Mariano Rajoy, who hails from the city of the crash, declared three days of official mourning on Thursday. The crash was one of the worst rail disasters in Spanish history.

Sources in the community told 247ureports.com that the late Mathias, 45, had returned home from his Onitsha base to attend the priestly ordination of his kinsman, Rev. Fr. Anayochukwu Onuoha, held at Mater Dei Cathedral, Umuahia, Abia State last Saturday June 20 2013. It was learnt that all through the ordination ceremony, Mathias and the late Angela were literally tied to each other, with the latter taking the front seat of the former’s jeep. Their entanglement was said to have continued the next day, Sunday, during the ceremony marking the first Holy and Thanksgiving Mass at Holy Ghost Parish, Umuevu Okirika-Nweke. The deceased were also seen together at the ordination reception and later at the compound of the new priest where they were dancing to the music coming from Mathias’ car’s loudspeakers, while he occasionally was shooting gunshots from his pump action gun as Angela fed him with cartridges. Interestingly, the deceased cousins were among family members who received prayers from the new priest, who earlier enjoined the people of the community to shun hypocrisy, atrocities and other iniquities if they must avoid God’s anger. The late Mathias who was said to have been married for 13 years without any child, however, returned home with a young girl as his fiancée who he left in the house. It was gathered that while the fiancée was home watching videos and waiting for Mathias, he only returned around 11pm and told her to go to sleep while he collected torchlight to see Angela off to her house. But that was not to be as the duo diverted to Mathias’ semi-completed building. Worried by her daughter’s non arrival to the house, Angela’s mother called her phone line but Mathias was said to have answered the phone telling the woman that her daughter was with him. Also, alarmed by Mathias’ absence in the house up till Monday morning, his fiancée began to look for him within the house and was shocked to have stumbled on the naked but entangled bodies locked in death. She immediately alerted Mathias’ family members who could not believe their eyes. Also, Angela’s mother who was returning from Morning mass was simply speechless at the sight of the deceased. The lady who was on top of the man had her blouse on but naked from the waist region while the man had his singlet on his neck. The two were dead.Their bodies were removed and deposited at Holy Rosary Hospital, Ogbor Nguru in Aboh Mbaise LGA. A 24-year-old man, Kunle Oyebanji has been charged before Ejigbo Magistrates’ court in Lagos for allegedly stabbing a retailer, Umoru Musa, over N10 cigarette. Oyebanji was charged with assault and refusing to pay for a stick of cigarette to Musa who sells provisions at 1, Pipeline Street, Idimu, Lagos. Narrating what happened, Musa said Oyebanji usually buys provisions from him on credit. But after some months, Musa said he stopped selling to him when he refused to pay his debts and threatened him whenever he asked for his money. On the fateful day, Musa said the suspect came to his kiosk and demanded for a stick cigarette but herefused to sell to him. But instead of leaving, Musa alleged that Oyebanji forcefully picked the cigarette and smoked at the kiosk. Musa alleged that Oyebanji refused to pay for the cigarette when he demanded for his money. Instead, Oyebanji became angry and questioned Musa for asking him for the money. In annoyance it was alleged that Oyebanji brought out a knife from his pocket and stabbed Musa several times. When Musa began to bleed and slump, Oyebani allegedly fled from the scene of the incident. The matter was reported at Idimu Police Division, while Musa was rushed to a nearby hospital in the area. Oyebanji was later arrested and charged to court. When he was arraigned in court, he pleaded not guilty. Oyebanji admitted that he went to Musa’s kiosk to buy cigarette on credit but he promised to pay him. He said the problem began when Musa insisted that he must pay him before leaving the kiosk . Oyebanji said he explained to him that he had no money on him but Musa insisted on collecting his money. The suspect said the argument resulted in exchange of words and a fight between them. The presiding magistrate, Mr P. E. Nwaka, granted Oyebanji bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. The matter was adjourned till 14 August.
