The trend among some fathers who choose to have s*x with their daughters has reached an alarming state, with a new dimension introduced by a father who allegedly had carnal knowledge of his eight and half months pregnant daughter in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, when she went to visit him after about 14 years of living apart. photo The girl, Ibukun, (not real name) who was impregnated by her lover in another state where she lived with her paternal grandmother was said to have been brought to Ibadan when she started having complications with her pregnancy. Her mother, who got separated from her father last December, took her in to keep an eye on her, but with her meagre income of N250 per day which she earns as a cook assistant in a local cafetaria, the woman seemed incapable of taking care of Ibukun and her two younger brothers who were staying with her. When Ibukun saw that life in Ibadan did not suit her, she decided to go back to Osogbo. However, she had the urge to see her father whom she had not seen for 14years since her grandmother took her into custody. But her decision spelt peril for her as she allegedly ended up being r*ped by her father. According to Ibukun, “I was defecating one day when I started bleeding. I was taken to hospital where they saw my womb protruding from my cervix. The ultrasound scan I did showed that I had placenta previa. At another hospital, the womb was pushed in and I was warned not to have s*x until delivery. “I was brought to Ibadan but I was not comfortable. I told my mother that I wanted to go back to Osogbo but I thought of going to see my father whom I saw last when I was a child. I asked my younger to take me there, with the thought that I would at least get transport money from him. “I went there on Saturday July 20 with the intention of sleeping over. My brother went to sleep and I also went to lie down. My father came and ordered me to remove my clothes, raining curses on me. He started robbing my breasts with his hands. He later took black soap, rubbed it on his hands and started using the hands to rub my breasts again. “By then, I could see that he was aroused as his manhood had risen beneath the loin cloth he tied around his waist. It was after that that he had s*x with me. I was weeping and my brother saw him and exclaimed ‘Ah! My brother also started crying. It was my brother who told my mother but I went to my aunt at Bodija area and narrated my experience to her.” The father, Mr Kehinde Olasode however denied sleeping with his daughter, swearing with the Quran. He said that he only used some leaves recommended to him to bath his daughter because of the bleeding she was experiencing in pregnancy. Olasode said: “She had been living with my mother in Osogbo since she was about five years of age. I have not seen her all these years. About two months ago, I was called and informed that she was pregnant and bleeding. I called her mother to inform her and she brought her to Ibadan to stay with her mother at Apete. On Saturday, July 20, her brothers brought her to me, and I sat her down to castigate her for getting pregnant instead of being serious with education or a vocation. “Meanwhile, someone told me to get Jatropha (lapalapa) leaves with black soap with which she should bath, saying that the bleeding she was experiencing would stop. I used the soap to rub her head and her breasts and gave her water to rinse her body. I don’t know how they came about the story that I slept with her.” The mother, Adijat, told Crime Reports that she left her husband in December to look for means of survival in Lagos because he was not responsible over the three children she bore him. “The burden was too much for me. He has another woman who bore him two children. “My daughter got pregnant in Osogbo and she later started bleeding. We brought her to Ibadan and she stabilised. When I noticed that she was almost due, I agreed with her to go back to Osogbo because there is no single baby dress in Ibadan and I am financially incapacitated to buy them. “She went to her father on July 20 and came back to tell me that her father rubbed and squeezed her breasts, vowing to expose him to the whole world. She also said that he slept with her but I don’t know how true that is.” Crime Reports gathered that the case was reported at Mapo police station and the Divisional Police Officer, SP Ganiyu Ali ordered the arrest of the suspect. Confirming the story, the Police Public Relations officer in Oyo State, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor, said that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for further investigations. Crime Reports also gathered that nurses at the State Hospital, Yemetu could not conduct the test necessary to check for presence of spermatozoa in Ibukun’s vulva because of her bleeding state, so as not to trigger labour.

The presidential committee said it will release data showing it remained in touch with Boko Haram. The presidential committee pushing for a negotiated deal with the violent sect, Boko Haram, has downplayed Monday’s bombing that killed scores in Kano, promising new “data and fact” that will show gains it achieved with the extremists, as the panel’s work faces increasing doubt. The Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Turaki, who heads the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges, said the blast in Sabon Gari area of Kano State, which killed at least 20 people, was carried out by “those who do not wish the country well”, and did nothing to detract from the gains made by the committee. Mr. Turaki said his panel had spent time making contacts, building confidence and earning the trust of some of the key figures of the group, and getting to engage in critical discussions which will not only lead to full ceasefire but also to disarmament. “Of course the issue of disarmament has to be handled properly by the appropriate organs because as a committee, we are not professionals. So what we can do is to broker the arrangement to the level where appropriate authorities, whether they are military, police or combination of both will now have to take the front seat and be in charge of the issue of surrender of arms and disarmament but as far as we are concerned we are making a lot of progress in this direction,” the minister said. The renewed spate of killings, allegedly by Boko Haram, has cast a pall on the self-claimed successes of the committee in achieving a peaceful settlement that will bring to end years of deadly violence by Boko Haram. Mr. Turaki told journalists at the presidential villa that there was no doubt the president was satisfied with the progress made by the committee. He denied the meeting was at the instance of the Monday attack. “I didn’t ask to see Mr. President. The President has not refused to see me. I came here to collect a copy of letter of extension of the mandate of the committee and it is here in my hand; this is what I have come to collect. I didn’t go to see the President; I have no cause to see the President. The President has not refused to see me,” he said. Mr. Turaki said soon, data and facts, showing how much the committee’s efforts had paid off, will be made available to Nigerians. “Very soon, we will be able to address Nigerians and then facts and data that will justify what we have been doing will be released,” he said. On the denial of ceasefire agreement by the sect, Mr. Turaki said the committee had gone beyond that as the issue had been sorted out. “The people we have been speaking with who are genuine members of the Boko Haram sect have themselves taken up the issue with some of their colleagues and I don’t want to reduce it to a diatribe between the committee with any other person or any group of persons. “At this level, we have informed Nigerians of what we are doing, what we said is true and accurate and very soon Nigerians will also be availed of sufficient facts that will confirm the information that we have given which is very correct,” he said. President Jonathan allowed the committee an extra two months extension to complete its assignment of getting the sect to accept dialogue and end the violence. The committee, which was inaugurated on April 24, was initially expected to submit its report on the July 24. But, the committee is yet to meet with the head of the Islamist sect, Abubakar Shekau, who is wanted by the Nigeria and U.S. governments.

ASUU has been on strike for over four weeks. The Federal Government has appealed to university students and their parents to be patient as negotiations are ongoing with striking university lecturers. Briefing journalists after the weekly meeting of the Executive Council of the Federation, FEC, the Information Minister, Labaran Maku, said government was worried because the disruption of the university calendar comes at a social cost to government. “We are appealing to our people, particularly parents and children of this nation, to bear with us, to show more understanding and we pray that this type of strike will not reoccur; because the public school system suffers a lot of damage with the perennial strikes,” Mr. Maku said. University lecturers, ASUU, have been on strike for over four weeks demanding that the government fully implement a 2009 agreement it had with the union. The government insists it wants a renegotiation of the some parts of the agreement claiming the agreement was not signed by the Goodluck Jonathan administration. Mr. Maku said the government was very worried about the strike. He assured that the strike will soon be called off and that an “understanding will be reached soon enough to enable our students return back to school.” “Government is very worried and concerned every time the school calendar is disrupted. It has its cost to the nation; particularly the idle time our children spend at home can lead to a lot of social difficulties. “We don’t want school calendars to be disrupted and a lot of series discussions have been going on and we believe we should record some progress soon enough for these schools to open,” he said. Mr. Maku noted that universities have been relatively stable since the advent of the Jonathan administration, as in the last two years “there has not been a lot of strikes until this unfortunate one and I believe we will overcome it and in the end both parties will appreciate the need to keep the school calendar stable for the progress of our country.” He said the “government is working hard to ensure we reach an agreement to resolve this problem so that our schools can reopen”.

Policemen at Bode Thomas division of Lagos State command, Tuesday, arrested a woman who allegedly set her 11-year-old house maid ablaze in Surulere area of Lagos, for stealing a piece of meat from her pot of soup. The maid identified as Ita Bassey-Eno who reportedly escaped death by the whiskers, is currently at the Burns and Trauma Centre of the Gbadaga General Hospital, with doctors battling to save her life. Although her mistress, a staff nurse at an undisclosed hospital in Surulere, Mrs Nkese Iroakazi, reportedly denied the allegation at the police station, the ailing girl was said to have managed to state that she allegedly poured kerosene on her before striking a stick of matches to set her on fire. The incident, as gathered, occurred last Saturday at 7, Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, after she rushed out of  the apartment with fire on her, apparently in an attempt to plunge into a gutter. Unfortunately,  she reportedly fell before she could get to  the gutter. One of the residents was said to have succeeded in putting out the fire with the aid of a fire extinguisher, before she was rushed to the hospital.Eyewitness account, a resident who simply identified herself as Morakinyo told Vanguard:  “I was just alighting from the bus when I saw people gathered in front of the building. When I got there, I saw Ita whom we all call Eno on the floor. Then, the flame had been put out.“Two men who attempted to carry her into a car could not because the skin at that time had peeled off. They had to get a slab, placed her on it and rushed her to the hospital. From what I gathered, the girl has spent barely one month in Lagos before the incident.“She was brought from her village in Akwa Ibom State last month alongside another girl called Happiness. Since then, we have not seen either of them going to school.“We heard that while Happiness was in the sitting room, there was a cry from Ita in the kitchen and before she (Happiness) knew what was happening,  Ita rushed out of the kitchen and straight to the road shouting for help. “How could someone who has children of her own treat another’s  like this? It was even the residents that alerted policemen who came to pick Mrs Iroakazi.” 95%  burns  When Vanguard visited the hospital, Tuesday, a doctor who spoke on condition of anonymity  expressed fear about the  victim’s condition, revealing that she suffered  95 per cent  burns. “It will take a miracle for her to survive. In any case, we are trying all we can to ensure she gets back on her feet. That will entail some surgeries because her private part was badly damaged.“ Currently, she wears pampers and that area needs immediate surgery after the injuries would have healed.Ita was sighted with bandage all over her body, except her face and feet. When a nurse approached her to administer the day’s treatment, she groaned in pains.As at 3 p.m yesterday, police sources told Vanguard that the suspect would be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba  for further investigation.

No fewer than 20 people are believed to have been killed in Sabon Gari, Kano  as suspected terrorists detonated about four bombs in the neighbourhood. One of the explosions believed to have been carried out by Islamic sect, Boko Haram, occurred at a drinking joint in Sabon Gari, where most of the non-indigenes reside. The blasts occurred on Igbo Road, Enugu Road and New Road, opposite Ado Bayero Square. The first blast was said to have occurred at about 9.12pm near International Hotel, while the second blast followed three minutes later. Security forces immediately condoned off the affected areas. AFP reported that “at least four explosions” had occurred in the Sabon Gari neighbourhood with an estimated 20 people killed.

The Acting Chief Judge of Abia state, Justice Shadrack O.E. Nwanosike has been sacked over the falsification of his date of birth. On Monday, the Nigeria’s  National Judicial Council made the announcement after investigations revealed that Nwanosike faked his date of birth which invariably affected his retirement age. He was subsequently ordered to embark on a compulsory retirement. In a detailed press release signed by the Acting Director of Information, Soji Oye,  the action was part of the recommendation of the council at its meeting presided by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar, held  on July 17 and 18. The report from the Committee on Performance Evaluation of Judicial Officers of the Superior Courts of Record in the Federation made up of a five-man Committee was reviewed and Judicial Officers with “Very Low Performance or Non-Performance”, were to appear before the council to show cause why they should not be removed from office, reports say. Also the council was considering the appointment of some Judicial Officers in the Federal & States Judiciaries to the Executive, respectively. They were considering appointments of a substantive Chief Judge for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja which the council has recommended to  President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Judge, Rivers State, Chief Judge, Jigawa state, Chief Judge, Katsina state which the council recommended to their respective state governors. and then there was the recommendation for the appointment of  President of Customary Court of Appeal in Taraba state, two Khadis for the Sharia Court of Appeal in Kebbi state, two Khadis for the Sharia Court of Appeal in Sokoto state, one Judge for the Customary Court of Appeal in Delta state and two Judges for the Customary Court of Appeal in Ebonyi state.

#SleeceNaija Nigerian Army arrests 42 Boko-Haram Suspects in Lagos,Ogun

The suspects were arrested in various parts of Lagos. The Nigerian Army in a raid carried out between July 12 and 23 said it arrested 42 suspected members of the Boko Haram sect in various hideouts in Lagos and Ogun States. The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division, Major General Obi Umahi, paraded the suspects before journalists in Lagos on Monday. Mr. Umahi said their arrest was based on intelligence report from army operation commanders. He said the suspects admitted being members of the sect, while some confessed to have taken part in deadly Boko Haram operations in some parts of the country. The GOC said some of them were among those responsible for the killing of soldiers and civilians in Maiduguri, Borno State. According to him, the suspects were arrested at Ibafo Trailer Park, Ileke New Trailer Garage, Ogun, Aviation Quarters, Mafoluku-Oshodi, Mile 12 Motor Park, Ketu, Orile Trailer Park, Lekki New Extension, and Bar Beach, Lagos. “We are still trying to track their weapons,” he said The GOC said the suspects migrated to the south western part of the country following the recent clamp down on their activities in the north by the Nigerian Armed Forces. “Army officers from 81 Division carried out coordinated raids in some major criminal hideouts in Lagos and Ogun States which are under our area of responsibility. “This is in response to intelligence reports on the influx of Boko Haram terrorist elements into Lagos and Ogun states. “The command organised and conducted raids, in junction with intelligence operatives, in various parts of these states. One of the suspects, who identified himself as Hassan Ibrahim, told journalists he and two others were indeed responsible for the killing of one soldier in Maiduguri. The suspect further gave the names of the two other accomplices as Ibrahim Ismail and “Alhaji Black”, adding that, some of them were now operating commercial motorcycle in Lagos. “It was Alhaji Black who fired the shot that killed the soldier and one Boka in Maiduguri,” the suspect said. The Boko Haram sect has limited its terrorist activities to the northern part of Nigeria where it is demanding an Islamisation of northern states. The Federal Government in May declared a State of Emergency in three north eastern states of Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe to check the activities of the sect.

Today Big Brother reproached Nando for the fight that he had with Elikem on Friday. The heated face-off with Elikem saw the two fellas exchanging fiery words between them. Nando is the one that instigated the fight. Instigation and provocation is a violation of the Big Brother rules. "Any Housemate who becomes physically violent will be removed from the House immediately. Violence can refer to self-inflicted violence, or violence towards another. Violence includes provocation, goading, bullying and victimisation," said Biggie. This season Big Brother has imposed a Three Strike Rulu, which will be applicable to Housemates who commit serious infringements. For this fight Nando received his second Strike and Elikem was has served with his first Strike. Afterwards the Tanzanian was called into the Diary Room. He was given his third Strike for making threats against Elikem's life, saying: "I feel like stabbing him. A nigga like that deserves to die". And he was also caught sleeping with scissors under his bed and this is not the first time that he has been caught with a weapon in the House. The troubled young fellow has had a dramatic nine weeks in The Chase. Last month he was served with a a Strike and a stern warning from Big Brother after he was found carrying a knife to the Channel O Party. The possession of weapons or intention to be violent in the House is another violation of the Big Brother rules. After the Diary session Nando was told to immediately exit the House. Two persons have been arrested by the Abia State police command in connection with the death of a 16-year old girl, simply identified as Esther. Esther’s badly decomposed body was found in an uncompleted building at the Cattle Market in Lokpanta in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State. The victim’s full identity was not known, except that she hailed from Abakiliki, Ebonyi State. Esther, until her death, was alleged to be a girl of free virtue, a trade she reportedly plied at the Lokpanta Cattle Market. The suspects, Uchenna Okorie and Levi Nwankwo are presently with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) where they are helping the police in their investigation. It was, however, not possible at the moment, according to the police to know if any part of her body was tampered with because of the badly decomposed nature of the remains. According to the police, on the night of Thursday July 11, 2013, one of the suspects, Uchenna Okorie, said to be the boy friend of Esther, engaged the service of the other suspect, Levi Nwankwo, an Okada operator, to pick Esther and drop in his house. Levi Nwankwo, the police said, claimed that he picked the girl as instructed by Uchenna Okorie and that when he got to Okorie’s home, he was not around, adding that he dropped Esther there and asked her to wait for her boy friend. According to him, she sat under a mango tree in the compound before he left. However, some days later Esther’s badly decomposed was found in an uncompleted building. According to the police, it was the stench oozing out from the decomposed body at the uncompleted building that attracted the people around the area. The incident, the police said was reported by one Good Samaritan, Friday Eke. Before then, Esther’s “business colleagues” at the Cattle Market had raised alarm that they had not seen her for a couple of days. However, the clue that led to the arrest of the two suspects, the police said, was given by one Mercy Sunday, said to be a food vendor at the Gariki, who gave the information that she saw when late Esther was carried in an okada by Levi to Uchenna’s house. When contacted, the Abia State Police commissioner, Mr. Usman Tilli Abubakar confirmed the incident and said that the police would get to the root of the matter. Abubakar said whether Esther was a prostitute or not, she deserved not to be killed, hence the police’s on-going investigation to unravel the cause of her death.

Train driver Francisco Jose Garzon Amo The driver of a train that crashed near the Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela on Wednesday killing 78 people is due to appear before a judge. Francisco Jose Garzon Amo has been detained on suspicion of reckless homicide and the judge will decide whether to press formal charges. Garzon is suspected of driving too fast on a bend. Reports say the train was travelling at more than double the speed limit at the time of the crash, reports the BBC. Garzon, 52, was pictured being escorted away from the wreckage by police, blood pouring from a head injury. He left hospital on Saturday and was immediately taken to the central police station in Santiago. He has so far refused to make a statement or answer questions. Sunday's court hearing will be closed but the judge will decide whether to remand the driver as an official suspect, release him on bail, or free him without charge. If the judge finds enough evidence for a criminal trial, Garzon will be charged and a date set. At least 130 people were taken to hospital after the accident and 30 remained in a critical condition on Saturday. All eight carriages of the train - packed with more than 200 passengers - careered off the tracks into a concrete wall as they sped around the curve on the express route between Madrid and the port city of Ferrol on the Galician coast. Leaking diesel burst into flames in some of the carriages. The train's data recording "black box" is with the judge in charge of the investigation. Officials have so far not said how fast the train was going when it derailed. Gonzalo Ferre, president of Spanish rail network administrator Adif, said the driver should have started slowing the train 4km (2.5 miles) before the spot where the accident happened. The president of Spanish train operator Renfe, Julio Gomez Pomar, has said that the train had no technical problems. He said the driver had 30 years' experience with the company and had been operating trains on the line for more than a year. People from several nationalities were among the injured, including five US citizens and one Briton. One American was among the dead. Some victims have had to be identified using DNA matches due to the extent of their injuries. PM Mariano Rajoy, who hails from the city of the crash, declared three days of official mourning on Thursday. The crash was one of the worst rail disasters in Spanish history.

Hell was let loose at Umualianya kindred Umumpe, Umuevu Okirika-Nweke in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA of Imo State last Monday when a man, Mr Mathias Nwoko and his female Cousin, Angela Ihuoma Anyanwu, met their untimely death while making love to each other. Sources in the community told 247ureports.com that the late Mathias, 45, had returned home from his Onitsha base to attend the priestly ordination of his kinsman, Rev. Fr. Anayochukwu Onuoha, held at Mater Dei Cathedral, Umuahia, Abia State last Saturday June 20 2013. It was learnt that all through the ordination ceremony, Mathias and the late Angela were literally tied to each other, with the latter taking the front seat of the former’s jeep. Their entanglement was said to have continued the next day, Sunday, during the ceremony marking the first Holy and Thanksgiving Mass at Holy Ghost Parish, Umuevu Okirika-Nweke. The deceased were also seen together at the ordination reception and later at the compound of the new priest where they were dancing to the music coming from Mathias’ car’s loudspeakers, while he occasionally was shooting gunshots from his pump action gun as Angela fed him with cartridges. Interestingly, the deceased cousins were among family members who received prayers from the new priest, who earlier enjoined the people of the community to shun hypocrisy, atrocities and other iniquities if they must avoid God’s anger. The late Mathias who was said to have been married for 13 years without any child, however, returned home with a young girl as his fiancée who he left in the house. It was gathered that while the fiancée was home watching videos and waiting for Mathias, he only returned around 11pm and told her to go to sleep while he collected torchlight to see Angela off to her house. But that was not to be as the duo diverted to Mathias’ semi-completed building. Worried by her daughter’s non arrival to the house, Angela’s mother called her phone line but Mathias was said to have answered the phone telling the woman that her daughter was with him. Also, alarmed by Mathias’ absence in the house up till Monday morning, his fiancée began to look for him within the house and was shocked to have stumbled on the naked but entangled bodies locked in death. She immediately alerted Mathias’ family members who could not believe their eyes. Also, Angela’s mother who was returning from Morning mass was simply speechless at the sight of the deceased. The lady who was on top of the man had her blouse on but naked from the waist region while the man had his singlet on his neck. The two were dead.Their bodies were removed and deposited at Holy Rosary Hospital, Ogbor Nguru in Aboh Mbaise LGA. When contacted, the state police public relations officer (PPRO), Mrs Joy Elemoko, promised to call back to inform our reporter about the outcome of police investigation.

A 24-year-old man, Kunle Oyebanji has been charged before Ejigbo Magistrates’ court in Lagos for allegedly stabbing a retailer, Umoru Musa, over N10 cigarette. Oyebanji was charged with assault and refusing to pay for a stick of cigarette to Musa who sells provisions at 1, Pipeline Street, Idimu, Lagos. Narrating what happened, Musa said Oyebanji usually buys provisions from him on credit. But after some months, Musa said he stopped selling to him when he refused to pay his debts and threatened him whenever he asked for his money. On the fateful day, Musa said the suspect came to his kiosk and demanded for a stick cigarette but herefused to sell to him. But instead of leaving, Musa alleged that Oyebanji forcefully picked the cigarette and smoked at the kiosk. Musa alleged that Oyebanji refused to pay for the cigarette when he demanded for his money. Instead, Oyebanji became angry and questioned Musa for asking him for the money. In annoyance it was alleged that Oyebanji brought out a knife from his pocket and stabbed Musa several times. When Musa began to bleed and slump, Oyebani allegedly fled from the scene of the incident. The matter was reported at Idimu Police Division, while Musa was rushed to a nearby hospital in the area. Oyebanji was later arrested and charged to court. When he was arraigned in court, he pleaded not guilty. Oyebanji admitted that he went to Musa’s kiosk to buy cigarette on credit but he promised to pay him. He said the problem began when Musa insisted that he must pay him before leaving the kiosk . Oyebanji said he explained to him that he had no money on him but Musa insisted on collecting his money. The suspect said the argument resulted in exchange of words and a fight between them. The presiding magistrate, Mr P. E. Nwaka, granted Oyebanji bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. The matter was adjourned till 14 August.

Your heart seizes and even though you are trying to keep your calm, you keep muttering “Please no, please no, please no!“I have had one too many of those and frankly I am tired of having to clean the spill over and over. So how do we avoid that temporary moment of shock? You can’t. You can only learn to live with it, and the only way to live with it and still have a regular blood pressure is to know how to prevent and remedy the problem. From eye shadows to broken mirrors, ladies go through a lot to keep our make up items intact. So, how can we do this better? Follow these simple tips that you can incorporate in your daily make up routine to make it easier. Broken Mirrors or Eye Shadow Palettes To avoid broken mirrors, eye shadow palettes e.t.c, place a flat slab of cotton wool in the palette case and close it tight. The cotton wool pressing against the eye shadow would act as a cushion for impact (think of it as a DIY Styrofoam). So even if it falls, your eye shadow will still remain intact. Shattered Eye Shadow If your eye shadow falls and breaks, no worries there is a solution. Smash what is left of the eye shadow until you get a fine powder. After, put a few drops of  rubbing alcohol in the eye shadow and use a spoon to mash together until it turns to a paste. After you get your paste, level the eye shadow in its original palette. Clean off any spills or excess residue and let the rest dry. To get a more compact look, place a coin in a handkerchief, enclose the coin and twist shut. Then, use the coin as a stamp or press to level the eye shadow in. When the eye shadow dries, your palette will look as good as new. Ruined Make Up Brush Bristles If your make up brush bristles get scattered you can fix them by simply washing them. Sometimes when you leave dirt on your make up brush for too long, the dirt could begin to affect the bristles. Also, the method of cleaning them could be a problem. Do not rub your make up brushes dry, instead lay them on a lint free towel and let them air dry. Letting your make up brush dry standing up right (with the bristles facing up) could be damaging your brush as well. You don’t want water to seep into the brush handle and ruin it. Broken Lipstick So you have decapitated your lipstick? No worries you can fix it. Simply use a blow drier or lit match stick to melt both halves of the lipstick. After you have melted them, place the part that broke off in the container and twist the lipstick back in. The last step is to place it in the freezer to harden. Greasy/ Dirty Make Up Compacts or Make Up Packs Have you got grimy or dirty cases and compacts? That one is sort of on you. As you make up and grab different tools out of your bag, you fingers come in contact with various powders and oils which at the end of the day ends up on the packs you hold. A quick solution to this is to get a pack of wipes and clean your make up packs and compacts. This way all your make up tools look neat. Wrong Make Up Bag Size Undersized make up bags are another major problem ladies face. It’s either too small or it’s too big. Instead of battling these problems, you can get a compact bag to keep all your make up items. These compact bags have different pockets and sections allocated to your make up brushes, powders, eye pencils etc. Just make sure to get it in an average size so you do not run into the same problem. Dry Mascara There are times when we have dry mascara and it’s not because it’s old. It could be that you didn’t close it properly, air entered and dried it out. Whichever way, there is a solution to getting that dry mascara as good as new. Adding a few drops of saline solution to your mascara would dissolve any clump and make it smoother. Saline solution is similar to salt water but isn’t as harsh and is the substance placed in contact lens packs. You can find it in a pharmacy, usually in the form of eye drops for sensitive eyes. Also remember, to keep air out of your mascara tubes, twist them as you put the mascara spool back. Stinky Lip Gloss This problem occurs mainly with lip glosses that have an applicator. When you use the applicator on your lip and place it back, it is very possible that you are transferring saliva into the tube of gloss. The mixture plus the fact that it’s in an enclosed space may cause it to start smelling. When you use the gloss, wipe it after each swipe on your lip. This way you are more preventive. In other cases it could be that the gloss has been on the shelf for too long and you just happened to buy it. It has outlived its shelf life and now is no longer good for use. If this is the case please stop using the gloss, it could start other issues like infections etc. Exploding Make Up Items If you have to clean your make up bag every day because the items keep spilling, you may want to consider a bigger bag. Majority of the products we buy are sealed in different containers. When pressure, like that from a tightly sealed bag is applied, the contents of the make up item would need a source of relief therefore ripping its case and spilling.
