@SleeceNaija : Tottenham want £100m to sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid in world-record smashing transfer

Spurs have slapped an incredible £100million price-tag on Gareth Bale That is the fee Real Madrid have been told they will have to pay if they want to sign the Welsh wizard. Tottenham chief Daniel Levy is determined to play hardball over Bale’s future and has insisted Real will have to smash the world transfer record to bag the player. However, Real value the player at £85m - which would itself be a world record - and have made it clear to Bale that they expect him to submit a transfer request to force his move. A six-year contract worth £150k-a-week is on the table for Bale, who is currently with the north Londoners on their pre-season tour in Hong Kong. The Wales international has told Real he wants to sign for them, but has yet to submit a formal transfer request. New Real coach Carlo Ancelotti is planning for next season with Bale in his team and has already allocated him the No.11 shirt. A senior source at Real said: "The president is adamant that Bale must join the club this summer and he is the only high-profile player we are pursuing. "Ancelotti will play Bale on the left and Cristiano Ronaldo on the right in a 4-3-3 formation. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Bale will be a Real player this summer. "If that means he has to put in a transfer request to force the issue, then that is what we expect he will do." Real president Florentino Perez paid Manchester United £80m, the current world record, for Ronaldo in 2009, and his determination to land Bale is driven by Barcelona’s capture of Brazil superstar Neymar for £48.6m from Santos in June. After sacking Jose Mourinho and losing their La Liga title to Barca, the Real chief is under huge pressure to prove his intention to compete with their arch-rivals. Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas claimed that the club are in negotiations to improve Bale’s £80k-a-week deal at White Hart Lane but the player’s camp claim there have been no contract talks since last summer. Real. meanwhile, will pile the pressure on a distraught Bale to hand in a transfer request in a bid to force through a world-record switch to the Bernabeu. The Spanish giants made their incredible offer of 100m euros for the Welshman earlier this month - but it came with a warning that the bid will stand only for this summer. Tottenham haven’t yet officially rejected the bid, but are sticking to their guns that Bale is NOT for sale - meaning the 24-year-old could miss out on the chance to fulfil his long-term dream of playing for Los Blancos altogether. If Spurs refuse to budge then the Spaniards, led by Perez, will ask Bale to provide a formal written transfer request in a bid to put the pressure on his club. They believe their offer is a fair one, and they are ready to ramp up the heat on Spurs in a bid to get their man. A senior source at the Bernabeu said: “The president is adamant that Bale must join the club this summer and he is the only high-profile player we are pursuing. “There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Bale will be a Real player this summer. “If that means he has to put in a transfer request to force the issue, then that is what we expect he will do.” Levy, however, is ready to insist that the Welshman, who has three years to run on his contract, stays put. Spurs’ stance means Perez has now taken it upon himself to get Bale to Madrid, where he will be offered a six-year deal worth around£150,000. Villas-Boas claimed last week that the club have been negotiating a new contract with the player for a year, although Sunday People Sport understands no talks have taken place since last summer. And even if Spurs were to present Bale with a new contract and terms that are a vast improvement on the near-£100,000 a week he currently earns at the club, it is highly unlikely he would sign. The player is adamant that his desire to move to Real is not about money or playing in the Champions League, but simply it is about taking the chance to fulfil a childhood dream. Bale didn’t play in Tottenham’s 6-0 victory over South China FC in Hong Kong on Saturday in the Barclays Asia Trophy. The official reason given for his absence was his failure to recover from a buttock injury, but Sunday People Sport understands that, with or without the problem, the distressed star would not have been in the right frame of mind to play given that he feels Spurs are standing in the way of the biggest opportunity of his career. The fact a switch to the La Liga giants means him linking up with close pal Ronaldo makes it even more appealing to the Welshman. Spanish newspaper Marca, who have close links to Real, say the club are already plotting to hand him the No.11 shirt - the same number he wears at Tottenham. Real know it could be a lengthy battle to get Bale this summer, but they remain confident they can get their man. Ideally, they would like him to join up with them in Los Angeles on their pre-season tour - they head to California later this week - although Levy has a history of taking negotiations right to the wire in his desire to get the best possible deal for his club. Spurs have already pulled off one coup this summer by landing Brazil star Paulinho and last week they added Belgian winger Nacer Chadli to their squad. They are also battling Liverpool for Valencia’s £26m-rated striker Roberto Soldado, as well as trying to take Wigan midfielder James McCarthy. Spurs are adamant they want those players to join Bale and that they do not need to sell him to balance the books. After failing to reach the Champions League again last season, Levy has told associates he will break his club’s tight financial shackles this summer in a bid not to miss out again next term.
